Slave, Umrah with Shaykh Hamza

I believe the "slave" title may lead someone to believe that this is about an Native American /American Indian. It's not. This is about a Muslim, an American, an Indian, and a slave of the Lord of the Worlds.

It actually really gets to me that people have completely adopted the ‘American Indian’ term. Because of a traveler’s mistake, 400 years later, we still refer to the native, indigenous people as American Indians? And they refer themselves to it as well. I prefer to call them Native Americans and will continue to do so. I don’t know if this will ever change, but I wish it would.

On another thought, http://www.sacredcaravan.com/. An Umrah trip with Sh Hamza Yusuf. I don’t know if there are other teachers, but it looks to be promising as a spiritual Umrah and an educational and an experiential experience. Cost is $2900 departing from New York and includes transportation and lodging and a lot of food. I wish I had the ability to attend this, and I’m hoping that others that do go benefit immensely from being in Makkah AlMukarramah and Medina AlMunawwarah, and from being in the presence of a great teacher like Sh Hamza Yusuf.

It begins...

Bismillah...
For some time now, I have wanted to be able to start a blog where I can share what I have learned so others can benefit as I have.

I pray for Allah's Tawfiq in this endeavor...
Ameen.
